RITARIAN SYMBOL

As you will have read in the biography of St Rita, whilst ill she requested a rose which was miraculously found and presented to her.  Roses have always been important to those who have a devotion to St Rita.  As with other communities in her name, the Ritarians have a service of thanksgiving on May 22nd every year in which rose petals are Blessed. These are then offered throughout the year to those who are suffering.

Other accounts of the life of St Rita tell of how, as a baby, it was noticed with shock and horror that swarms of bees regularly surrounded her.  On close inspection it was found the bees were depositing sweet nectar into the mouth of the infant Rita.  Around the town and parish Church in Cascia bees reside in the stone work of the walls and are associated with the Umbrian area of Italy.
